Great game, just a few very small points.

Loved the game, great controls and the design was well thought out.
It was hard but never got frustrating or impossible and if i couldn't finish a level it was because i hadn't thought about it long enough not because of poor design or unresponsive controls.
The only teeny tiny criticism i would give is on some of the asthetic qualities of the game. The setting is great and the music really sets the tone and atmosphere but for some reason the main characters design just didn't sit right with me.
The running animation seemed a little odd and the general design of him sort of came off as a bit too 'cute' to me.
The only reason his design and animation stood out is because of the design of the rest of the game wich is quite dark and well done.
The enemies looked particularly excellent and detailed which made the main character's odd look stand out even more.
I understand that he is supposed to be an 'average joe' kind of hero but...like i said he's a little too cute and nice for this game...just my thoughts though.
Also i agree with the rest of the reviers in saying that the ending is very poor.
A simple escape sequence would've been fine or just having him walk out into the sun or something but the whole 'it was only a dream thing' really makes it seemed rushed and forced.
All in all a fantastic game and a full 5 from me.
Can't fault anything in the mechanics, controls or level design but just a couple of asthetic qualities kept it from being a perfect 10.
Looking foreward to more work from you!

It's alright

It's fun initially but towards the end it just comes down to random chance.
There's hardly any strategy involved so when it comes to the later levels you just have to hope that the blocks fall in the right order and you get the right order of color clicks.

Can't say i liked it..

A lot of really weird design choices kept it from being enjoyable for me.I could only get to about 75/120 toys before i became too frustrated/bored.

I found the controls unnecessarily complex for a game that has such simple core elements. It's really only a one handed game as the up arrow could easily have served as the jump key while the down key would have been great for using tools/entering doors as well as ducking as i never once ran into a situation where i needed to duck and use a tool at the same time. The control customization is a great function but again unnecessary as this really should be a one-handed, arrow key/wasd game.

I found the jumping to be inaccurate and frustrating at time as i would often find myself not being able to make jumps that it looked like i was going to clear and often clearing jumps that seemed impossible. Because of these inconsistencies i found it difficult to get an accurate representation of how far i actually could/couldn't jump. The hit detection when jumping on enemies also suffered from this weird and inconsistent quality as i would often take damage from enemies i was sure i jumped on while knocking out others without even trying.

The lantern meter is a really bad indication of how much time you actually have left as when it gets to around the last 20ish percent, it suddenly drops to empty which sort of defeats the purpose of having an indicative meter. Perhaps a remedy to this problem would be to have the meter start to flash when it reaches this dire area or to simply even out the meter so that it accurately represents how much time you have left.

The tool upgrades are often placed at or towards the end of each world/area which can be quite annoying before you figure out that it's best to search the world/area until you find the mine with the tool in it. Because of this odd placement of tools you will often play through an earlier level only to find you do not have the necessary tool needed to collect the last/any toy(s). This creates unnecessary and boring backtracking and artificially extends the length of the game.

While i enjoyed the graphics and the general art design of the game, i found the story and setting a little bit pointless as it is clearly aimed at children yet the game would be far too difficult and frustrating for a child to enjoy. There isn't much enjoyment to be had with the story as an adult so it's sort of missing a target audience and brings to question why the game even has a story. If your an adult, you may as well be picking up rocks with dirt as currency as you couldn't really care less for the context. If you're a child you'll play it for 10 minutes before you get frustrated and do something else.

All in all there's some promise here, the art and general concept is great but the whole thing just comes off really uninspired due to some bad design choices. I love the layout of the game and enjoyed the premise of the task set before me but there were just too many things holding it back and in the end i just couldn't play it anymore.

Agree with the previous 2 comments

It's fun to begin with but soon enough you come to realize that the game doesn't really require any skill or timing and becomes pretty boring.
There need to be a fix applied to level 2 also as it's the most difficult level to get an A+ on in the whole game and is the ultimate test of luck.
After you realize you don't really have any control over the game it becomes pretty boring and easy but it's a fun concept that would be a great game if tweaked properly.

Great game but way too easy

Superb controls, excellent design great graphics but it was just way too easy.
I finished the whole thing in 10 minutes and died twice.
Fun to play but it's just a little too easy, it doesn't need to be hardcore difficult but just hard enough to make you think.
Looking forward to the sequel if i read the end right?

A lot of weak points

It's alright in concept but there's a lot of bad excecution here.
The game is really quite easy with the exception of a few levels that are hard only because of bad design.
The difficulty is bizzarley curved as often when you feel the game is getting harder you are met with a string of exceptionally easy stages such as simply pressing the right switch.
The controls are pretty poor especially the wall jump which has been previously noted as being 'sticky' and the slide which often just doesn't seem to work.
The text about how hard the game is and whether you're ready to give up yet is really quite silly as you rarely die by your own fault.
The game forces you to die about 35+ times and the rest will either be from unresponsive slides or trial and error situations such as hitting the right switch in a room of 6 or so.
It's quite dissapointing as these sort of games can be great fun and really challenging with the right design behind them.
I just found that this one came off poorly and could have benefited from some controll tweaks and a lot less telling you how hard it's supposed to be.

Nifty

Great game, fluid animation and simple but addictive gameplay.
Promising stuff, keep up the excellent work!

Cool game

This was pretty good. I couldn't find any bugs but i think some of the screens could be a little bigger. It's ok when you get into the second sort of chunk of the levels before the boss but in the first section i found it a bit hard to tell when enemies were coming. Other than that it was great. Thanks for using my music! Keep at it!

Thanks for your comment, really your music is very good and that was good for the game.

Poor Effort

Story was weak and the lame art direction doesn't do it any favours.
There's hardly even a game in here, all you do is hold down the right key and occasionally jump.
The slow movement would be fine if there was something decent to look at or even do but it's pretty hard to be interested in something so short and bland.
This honestley would've served better as a movie than a game.
I got more emotional playing Donkey Kong Country than i did when i played this......he just wanted those bananas.

Nice

Addictive game play made me play it all the way to the end.
Maybe touch up on some of the graphics and maybe make the last level a little shorter.
Other than that, Great :D
